Welcome to Ichnos.io (“Ichnos,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Ichnos website, browser extension, waitlist, accounts, search features, and related products and services (collectively, the “Services”).
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not access or use the Services.

Ichnos is a personal search and retrieval tool that allows users to save web pages and later retrieve them using natural-language and semantic search functionality. The Services may include, without limitation:
The Services are currently pre-launch or early access in some respects, and some features may be invite-only, limited, experimental, modified, or discontinued at any time.
To access certain features, you may be required to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep your information updated.

We are not liable for losses arising from unauthorized access to your account caused by your failure to safeguard credentials, except to the extent prohibited by law.
You may not share your account with others, impersonate another person, or create an account using false or misleading information.

We may investigate suspected violations and take any action we deem appropriate, including suspension, restriction, deletion of content, termination of access, and cooperation with law enforcement.
The Services are intended solely for the user’s own lawful personal or internal business use, unless Ichnos expressly states otherwise in writing. The Services may not be used as a public hosting service, publishing service, file-sharing service, archival service for unauthorized third-party content, or redistribution platform.
You may not use the Services to reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, sublicense, display, or otherwise exploit saved third-party content except as permitted by applicable law and the rights of the applicable content owner.
You may not use the Services to save, store, upload, transmit, process, retrieve, share, or otherwise make available any content that:
You are solely responsible for the legality of the content you save or process through the Services. The fact that content can be technically saved or retrieved through the Services does not mean such use is lawful or authorized.
Ichnos does not undertake a general obligation to pre-screen, monitor, or review all User Content. However, we reserve the right, at any time and in our sole discretion, with or without notice, to investigate, review, flag, remove, disable access to, preserve, or disclose content or account information where we believe doing so is necessary or appropriate to:
We may use automated tools, manual review, metadata analysis, rate limits, account restrictions, abuse detection systems, and other technical or administrative measures to identify prohibited activity or enforce our policies.
We may preserve relevant records, logs, account data, content, and related metadata in connection with investigations, legal compliance, or enforcement. We may also report suspected unlawful activity to law enforcement, rights holders, regulators, service providers, or other appropriate parties where we believe such disclosure is lawful or appropriate.
Nothing in these Terms shall be interpreted to require Ichnos to monitor any content, detect any violation, or take any particular enforcement action.
Ichnos reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to restrict, block, disable, or refuse saving, processing, or retrieval from particular domains, sources, content categories, accounts, users, or jurisdictions at any time, with or without notice.
Ichnos respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same.
If you believe that content made available through the Services infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice requesting removal of the allegedly infringing material in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”).

Upon receipt of a facially valid notice, we may remove or disable access to the identified material, notify the affected user where appropriate, and take any other action we deem appropriate.
If you materially misrepresent that material or activity is infringing, you may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees.
Ichnos may also, in appropriate circumstances and in its sole discretion, terminate or restrict accounts of users alleged to be repeat infringers.
It is Ichnos’s policy, in appropriate circumstances and at its sole discretion, to suspend, restrict, or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the intellectual property rights of others or who are repeatedly the subject of valid infringement notices or other credible complaints.
We may also suspend or terminate accounts for a single serious violation where we believe immediate action is necessary to protect Ichnos, rights holders, users, or third parties.
We reserve the right to determine what constitutes repeat infringement or a serious violation based on the facts and circumstances available to us.

As between you and Ichnos, you retain whatever ownership rights you may have in the content you submit, save, transmit, or process through the Services (“User Content”), including saved page content, URLs, titles, search input, notes, or other data you provide.
We do not claim ownership of your User Content.
By using the Services and providing User Content, you grant Ichnos a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, copy, reproduce, process, modify, transform, index, transmit, display, and otherwise use that User Content solely as necessary to:
This license is limited to the purposes of operating and improving the Services and does not transfer ownership of your User Content to us.
You represent and warrant that:
You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of saving, transmitting, processing, or relying on it.
The Services are not designed to be a secure repository for highly sensitive, regulated, or mission-critical data.
Although Ichnos may attempt to detect and redact certain secrets, such as API keys, passwords, or tokens, this process is best effort only and may fail to detect or remove sensitive information. You agree not to rely on Ichnos as your sole safeguard against disclosure of confidential or sensitive material.
Unless expressly authorized by us in writing, you agree not to use the Services to store, process, or transmit:
You assume all risk for any sensitive information you choose to submit through the Services.
The availability of automated redaction or secret-detection features does not grant permission to store regulated, unlawful, unauthorized, or confidential content through the Services, and does not shift responsibility for such content from the user to Ichnos.
The Services may use artificial intelligence and machine learning systems, including third-party AI providers, to generate outputs such as:

Ichnos does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, legality, usefulness, or fitness of any AI-generated output and disclaims liability arising from your reliance on such output to the fullest extent permitted by law.
The Services may capture, store, analyze, or retrieve content originating from third-party websites. Ichnos does not own or control those third-party websites or their content.
We are not responsible for:
You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the Services in connection with any third-party content is lawful and authorized.
If you join the waitlist, request early access, or are given pre-release access to the Services:
We are not liable for any reliance on current or anticipated availability of features, pricing, or launch dates.
We reserve the right, at any time and in our sole discretion, with or without notice, to suspend, restrict, disable, or terminate your access to all or part of the Services if:
We may also ban accounts or users where appropriate. Where feasible and appropriate, you may contact us to request review of a suspension or termination decision, but we are not obligated to restore access.
Without limiting the foregoing, we may immediately suspend, restrict, disable, or terminate access to the Services, remove content, preserve relevant evidence, and cooperate with rights holders, regulators, or law enforcement if we believe that a user has stored, transmitted, accessed, or attempted to use the Services in connection with prohibited, unlawful, infringing, exploitative, or dangerous content or activity.
Termination does not affect rights or obligations that by their nature should survive termination.
You may request deletion of your account, subject to the functionality we make available.
Upon account deletion, we may delete or deactivate your account and associated User Content from active systems, but you understand and agree that:

The Services, including the website, software, code, design, branding, logos, interfaces, text, graphics, compilations, and all content other than User Content, are owned by or licensed to Ichnos and are protected by intellectual property and other laws.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable right to access and use the Services for their intended purposes.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, license, sublicense, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, or create derivative works from any portion of the Services except as expressly permitted by us in writing or by applicable law.
If you submit ideas, suggestions, proposals, comments, bug reports, or other feedback regarding the Services (“Feedback”), you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, fully paid, sublicensable, and transferable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, distribute, and exploit that Feedback for any purpose, without compensation or attribution to you.
If we provide API access, personal access tokens, or similar credentials, you are solely responsible for:

You may not share API credentials with unauthorized third parties or use them in a way that threatens the integrity, security, or performance of the Services.

We may change, suspend, remove, or discontinue any feature, functionality, integration, or portion of the Services at any time, with or without notice.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL DETECT OR REDACT ALL SECRETS, THAT AI OUTPUTS WILL BE CORRECT, OR THAT SAVED CONTENT WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE OR RECOVERABLE.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN DISCLAIMERS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ICHNOS, ITS AFFILIATES, FOUNDERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, LICENSORS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO:

By using the Services, creating an account, or joining the waitlist, you consent to receive communications from us electronically, including by email, in-app notice, or website posting, for account, transactional, legal, and operational purposes.

We may modify these Terms or the Services at any time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice by posting updated Terms on the website, updating the effective date, emailing users, or through other reasonable means.

We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, outages, labor disputes, war, terrorism, civil unrest, governmental action, internet failure, vendor failure, or cyberattack.
Any provisions that by their nature should survive termination or expiration of these Terms shall survive, including provisions relating to ownership, licenses, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution, and governing law.
